Accommodations

There are many hotels near the conference venue, ranging from luxury to low-budget. Nishitetsu Travel Co., Ltd. assists your booking. Because Fukuoka has been recently very popular among tourists, an early reservation is strongly recommended.

Insurance

To all attendees from abroad,

We strongly urge you to purchase travel/health insurance for your stay in Japan. Medical care is excellent, but expensive here.

Thanks for your understanding.

Visa

To those of you requiring a visa to visit Japan,

It is your own responsibility to check whether you need a visa and to obtain a valid visa. The Fechner Day organization will not provide any financial support for visa applications. We advice you to first consult the Website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to get information about visa requirements and application procedures. If you need documents, e.g., an invitation letter from the Organizing Committee, please ask Mrs. Yuko Maruyama (rcaps [at] design.kyushu-u.ac.jp), the secretary of ReCAPS.

Bear in mind that a visa application usually takes at least 1 month to complete, excluding the time it takes to send documents from Japan to you. Therefore, please contact Mrs. Maruyama as soon as possible if you require (a) document(s) from us. The ReCAPS office is open only two days a week in June, and will be open three days a week from July, further supported by another secretary and longer working hours of a student assistant.

Thanks for your understanding.
